Tea is becoming my new favorite drink in the morning (other than water of course). Discovering Free Your Tea was a blessing in disguise! A Free Your Tea Box contains six 2oz tea samples. Your first package could also come with an extra tea sample and drawstring bags, depending on the subscription you select. Information such as ingredients, steeping instructions, and a brief description can be found on the packaging itself.

I was extremely excited to try out this tea subscription and could not wait to start drinking and receiving some tea. If you enjoy trying different teas that were specifically tailored to you, then I have some excellent news. The subscription tea package from Free Your Tea meets your tea needs by satisfying your specific palate. This month, I got the Fruit + Floral Blend from Free Your Tea. Background

Before we get into the specifics of the subscription experience, it's essential to know what Free Your Tea represents and what its missions are. The founder of the company, Knud Berthelsen, established the company to assist in the efforts of connecting high-quality teas grown in various places to tea lovers worldwide.

Knud Berthelsen wanted to provide everyone the opportunity to break away from the standard teas available in grocery stores and discover new favorite teas.

The company values are:

  • They believe no two tea leaves are the same
  • They embrace the magic brewed between people over a pot of tea
  • They understand that the history of tea is steeped in tradition
  • They think outside the bag
  • They do business with the same bold character as our favorite teas

Why Choose Free Your Tea

After testing out Free Your Tea, I am convinced that this company truly loves what they do. Buying the Product

Personalization is important to Free Your Tea. They tailor teas to your tastes using their database of tea preferences and ratings, which reveals which teas people with similar preferences and ratings to yours are most likely to appreciate. Prior to receiving your first shipment, new members are asked to enter their preferences for tea kinds, caffeine levels, and personalization options. Unless you're just searching for diversity, you are encouraged to provide more detailed preferences for 30 different flavors, tea types, and ingredients. Upon arrival of your first teas, you are asked to rate each tea on a scale of 1 to 5 stars and specify whether or not you would want to get the tea again sometime in the future. They personalize your tea based on your tea preferences and ratings.

Each shipment contains 4-6 2 oz. bags of personalized tea bimonthly, or quarterly, depending on your subscription. Prices can range from $16 to $30 each month, depending on your membership package. When opposed to paying month to month, it is considerably cheaper to sign up for a year and simply be billed quarterly.

  • $60 for two months gets you four teas that make 100 cups ($15 each tea).
  • $72 for three months gets you six teas that make 150 cups ($12 each tea).
  • $120 for six months gets you 12 teas that make 300 cups ($10 each tea).
  • $192 a year gets you 24 teas that will brew 600 cups ($8 per tea).

Shipping within the United States is always free, and each box comes with 50-100 drawstring bags.

Results

All of their teas taste great both as plain cups of hot tea and cold brewed. Some are even better with additions like milk and sugar. Personally, I brewed this tea plain with no additives to get the full flavor effects.

For hot tea, they generally recommend sachet per cup and steeping no more than 4-5 minutes. For cold brewing, they recommend a sachet per cup and steeping for 10-12 hours in the refrigerator.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite teas to sip on, both in the morning and at night. Being caffeine-free, I do not have to worry about struggling to fall asleep! Sometimes after dinner, I make a cup of tea to help digest a heavy meal or if I don’t want to drink plain water. I absolutely loved the bold fruit scents that are present with this tea. The flavors are still very strong after a few more steeps!
